American Laser Skincare, LLC (the "Company"), headquartered in Farmington Hills, Michigan, was formerly a leading provider of laser hair removal, skin rejuvenation, and other minimally-invasive cosmetic procedures across a nationwide network of 136 locations throughout 25 states. The Company ceased operations on November 14, 2014.
On December 4, 2014 (the "Petition Date"), the Company filed voluntary petitions in this Court commencing cases for relief under Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code (the "Chapter 7 Cases"). Since the filing date the Trustee has entered into agreements to sell Certain Clinics (click here) as part of the agreement. The buyers of these Certain Clinics will assume the treatment liability for the customers of those specific clinics/locations only. Assuming the sales close, within the next 60 days, the new owners of these Certain Clinics, will then contact the former customers who have outstanding treatment plans.
All other clinics will be permanently closed and all equipment will be liquidated. The customers of these other clinics will not have their treatment liability assumed. They will instead have to file a Proof of Claim with the United States Bankruptcy Court, Attn: Claims, 824 Market Street, 5th Floor, Wilmington, DE 19801. Hypothetically, if you are contracted with the Company for 10 treatements for a total of $5,000 and previously received 3 treatments, you should complete your claim form indicating that you are a general unsecured creditor in the amount of $3,500 ($5,000 minus 3 treatments @$500 each).
If your claim is completed in a manner different than as explained above, you could have your claim objected to at a later date.
